The victory at Palais des Sports de Treichville meant D’Tigress got a seventh overall conquest of the competition and became the first squad to win it five times in a row.
The 33-year-old star, who was born in The Brox, New York also gave thanks to everyone who supported D’Tigress to pull off the feat in the Ivorian capital and stressed that all the players are delighted with the opportunity to make Nigeria proud.
Sarah Ogoke, who schooled at Southern Polytechnic in the USA and plays for Ferroviario de Maputo of Mozambique, retorted, “One behalf of D’Tigress, we just want to thank you.
“Thanks to everyone who gave us this biggest opportunity to support our country and the honour to be here.”
She then spoke about the emotions going through each of the players’ mind as they relished the privilege of making Nigeria proud once again.
“It’s a big honour to all of us to be able to wear these colours, represent our country, bring home this victory, and get this cup.
“We thank you all, each and every one of you, for your contributions … Mr Musa, the president and everyone who has been there with us,” Ogoke eulogised.
Sports247 gathered that Sarah Ogoke, who also played collegiate basketball for Pittsburgh Panthers, was part of the Nigerian squads that earlier won AfroBasket titles at Mali 2017, Senegal 2019, Cameroon 2021 and Rwanda 2023.
