D’Tigers of Nigeria head coach, Mohammed Abdulrahman, has disclosed that he is happy his players will get some days off and be able to rest at the African Men’s Senior Basketball Championship in Luanda, Angola, after topping their group with three straight wins.
Sports247 reports that Sunday’s 99-90 victory over Cameroon at Pavilhao Multiusos de Luanda meant Abdulrahman’s side pulled off maximum points that allowed them to cruise straight into the quarter-finals, where they await Senegal or Sudan in continuation of their race for Nigeria’s second-ever men’s AfroBasket title.

With D’Tigers now set to rest while other countries battle in the play-offs stage, Abdulrahman admitted he was happy that his players rose to the occasion and silenced the gritty Cameroonians and promised to use the resting period to evaluate their progress so far.
He retorted, “We wanted to top the group, and that’s exactly what we did. Now we have some extra days to rest.
“So, we are going to sit back and take stock of what we did in the past three games, and then we’ll move on from there.”
The history-chasing gaffer stressed the importance of his side skipping the play-offs and promised to use the extra days that they now have before the quarter-finals begin to restrategise and plan ahead for the next stage of the epic competition.
“I’m so excited that we are right where we want to be. We never want to be in the play-off round before the quarter-finals, and that’s what we have achieved,” Abdulrahman submitted.
