AFRO BASKET: Iroegbu brothers make history as debutants star

While Nigeria’s D’tigers booked a place in the 2021 Afro basket Championship, two brothers, Ike and Uche Iroegbu made history by becoming second brothers to play for the national male senior basketball team.

D’Tigers narrowly defeated South Sudan on Wednesday 75-70pts in Monsatir, Tunisia.

Ike Iroegbu who has been a constant figure in the team and scored the highest points on the night – 16 points was joined his brother, Uche for his debut on the night.

The Iroegbu brothers became the first brothers to play for the national team since 2015 when Al-farouq and Alade Aminu win the Afro basket championship.

While Ike runned things for the team, his brother Uche helped with 6pts, 3rebs and 4 steals in the win.

Chima Moneke making his debut scored 8pts while another debutant, Amanze Egekeze had 5pts before injuring his right knee.
