The African Games Bid Evaluation Committee has given Nigeria many words of commendation, while also praising facilities on ground in Abuja, as the country steps up its efforts at hosting the continent’s multi-sports showpiece in 2031.

Sports247 reports that head of the delegation, Dr. Decius Chipande also praised the elaborate reception by National Sports Commission (NSC) and a comprehensive presentation that portrayed Nigeria’s ability to host the African Games.
The commendations came after Nigeria’s officials gave various presentations that criss-crossed key issues of facilities, logistics, medicals, hospitality, welfare and broadcasting, all of which Chipande adjudged as excellent.
He pointed out that the whole presentation had clarity of vision, depth of planning and strong alignment between government and private sector stakeholders, noting that Nigeria remains confident of hosting a historic African Games.
A media statement from the sports commission added, “Chairman of the NSC, Mallam Shehu Dikko, in his remarks, reaffirmed the solid support of the Federal Government for the bid. He emphasized that hosting the African Games remains a national priority.
“Director General of the Commission, Hon. Bukola Olopade, presented a sponsorship and marketing framework, (noting) that Nigeria’s large market, sports culture and private sector interest provide foundation for a financially successful Games.
“Ace broadcaster and bid coordinator, Mainasara Ilo delivered an engaging presentation on legacy; highlighting how the Games would catalyze youth development, infrastructure expansion and community impact across the country.
“Former Director of Medicine at the Commission, Dr. Paul Onyedo, detailed Nigeria’s preparedness in sports medicine and scientific approach to anti-doping, testing, and athlete health management, aligning with international best practices.
“In addition, Dr. Emmanuel Igbinosa presented the country’s comprehensive welfare framework, assuring the Committee of Nigeria’s readiness to provide a safe, secure, and athlete-centered environment throughout the Games.”
