The Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) president, Tonobok Okowa is relishing what he described as smooth organisation and seamless progression of the ongoing African U18/U20 track and field championship in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Sports247 reports that the competition, which is being staged under the banner of Confederation of African Athletics (CAA), has been holding The Rock City spellbound since it began on Wednesday and excitement continues flooding the venue at MKO Abiola Stadium.

Heading into the climax of all events on Sunday, Okowa is looking beyond some astonishing results being enacted by the host country’s athletes, as he opted to check on the quality of organisation and gave reasons behind the success so far.
“We’ve been doing a lot of things. We went through the Congress, we went through the committee meeting and we worked seamlessly in all areas.
“All of these made us ready even before the events proper started on the 16th,” said Okowa, who was recently elected unopposed for another four-year term as AFN president.
