Afeez Aremu Joins Scottish Premiership Side Aberdeen FC

Scottish Premiership outfit Aberdeen FC have completed the signing of Nigerian international midfielder Afeez Aremu Olalekan from German club FC Kaiserslautern.

The 26-year-old has agreed a long-term contract that will keep him at Pittodrie until the summer of 2028, subject to visa approval and international clearance.

Aremu becomes one of Aberdeen’s key additions in the ongoing transfer window as the club continues to strengthen its squad ahead of the new campaign.

Aremu arrives in Scotland with valuable experience from German football, where he established himself as a dynamic and combative midfielder.

Known for his energy, ball-winning ability and physical presence, the Nigerian is expected to add intensity and balance to Aberdeen’s midfield department.

Aberdeen sporting director Lutz Pfannenstiel described the midfielder as a profile the club had been keen to add, highlighting his strength, robustness and experience in a highly competitive league as key factors behind the move.

Reacting to his transfer, Aremu confirmed his departure from Kaiserslautern with an emotional message to the club’s supporters.

He admitted that leaving was difficult after building strong bonds with teammates and fans, but expressed gratitude for the support he received during his time in Germany, wishing the club well in the future.

Aremu, who has represented Nigeria at international level, now begins a new chapter in Scottish football. Aberdeen will be hoping his blend of experience, work rate and physicality can make an immediate impact as they push for success in domestic competitions and on the European stage.
