Former Super Eagles forward, Victor Ezeji, has lauded the current Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) as the most captivating and entertaining edition since its inception.

Ezeji, formerly of Enyimba, highlighted the drama, organization, excitement, and officiating as standout factors that set this tournament apart from its predecessors.

In praising the tournament’s exclusivity and surprises, Ezeji remarked, “For me, I think this is the most exclusive Nations Cup we’ve seen. The most entertaining and most surprising.”

He emphasized the notable absence of traditional powerhouses in the last eight teams, showcasing the evolving landscape of African football where there are no longer considered minnows.

Expressing satisfaction with the overall performance, Ezeji commended the efficiency of VAR, stating that it has operated flawlessly without controversy.

He acknowledged the success of the competition, noting, “Apart from one decision, even VAR has done very well. Nobody has faulted.”

Ezeji, however, pointed out the unfortunate incident involving Ivory Coast fans who, initially believing their team had been eliminated following a 4-0 loss to Equatorial Guinea, caused unrest.

Despite this isolated incident, Ezeji concluded, “But outside that, everything has gone well,” affirming the overall success of the ongoing AFCON.
