#AFCON23: Dennis Jules Onana Congratulates Super Eagles, Calls for Changes in Cameroon’s Technical Setup

Former Cameroon International, Dennis Jules Onana, has extended congratulations to the Super Eagles of Nigeria following their victory over the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon in the AFCON round of 16.

Onana expressed disappointment in Cameroon’s performance, stating that the team needs new ideas and changes in the technical area.

In a post-match statement, Onana acknowledged Nigeria’s superior performance and wished them success in the quarterfinals against Angola.

However, he raised concerns about Cameroon’s lacklustre display throughout the tournament and emphasized the need for improvements in the squad and technical setup.

“First of all, I would like to congratulate the Nigerian team for the success. And I hope that you will have a good game in the quarter-finals against Angola. And I hope that you can go through it.”

“For now, we are here very disappointed because you are never happy when you lose such a game. But when you see the way the game was played, Nigeria was better than Cameroon.”

“Cameroon in that competition only played 10 minutes against Gambia. For the next Senegal, not good enough against Guinea, and now not good enough at all against Nigeria.”

“For the future, we will see. People are disappointed, but they knew that the team, the squad was not good enough to win the AFCON.”

Onana’s comments reflect the disappointment within the Cameroon camp and highlight the urgency for strategic changes in both the squad and technical aspects.
