AFCON 2025: Tunisia, Another Super Eagles Opponent, Unveil Final 28-Man Squad

Tunisia have officially released their final 28-man squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, becoming the second Group C opponent—after Tanzania—to announce their team for the tournament in Morocco.

Head coach Sami Trabelsi has opted for a blend of experience, continuity and selective reinforcements as the Carthage Eagles prepare to face Nigeria, Uganda and Tanzania in what promises to be one of the toughest groups of the competition.

The squad features the return of influential midfield duo Ellyes Skhiri and Hannibal Mejbri, both of whom missed recent international fixtures.

Their comeback provides renewed balance and creativity to the Tunisian midfield.

Trabelsi maintained consistency in the goalkeeping unit, retaining Aymen Dahmen, Bechir Ben Saïd, Sabri Ben Hassen and Noureddine Farhati, with Ben Hassen returning after recovering from injury.

In defence, regulars Yassine Meriah, Montassar Talbi, Dylan Bronn, Ali Maâloul and Ali Abdi all keep their places.

The coach also recalled Adem Arous and Nader Ghandri, who both missed the Arab Cup. Ghandri, in strong form with Akhmat Grozny, expressed his delight at being reinstated, saying he is “ready to give 100% for Tunisia.”

The midfield core built around Ferjani Sassi, Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane and Houssem Tka remains intact, with Skhiri and Hannibal adding depth and versatility. Ismael Gharbi, Mohamed Hadj Mahmoud, Naim Sliti and others complete a well-balanced middle line.

In attack, Trabelsi named Elias Saad, Sébastien Tounekti, Firas Chaouat, alongside Elias Achouri, Hazem Mastouri and Seifeddine Jaziri, forming a frontline designed to combine energy, width and goal threat.

Notable omissions include Layouni and Nacim Dendani, both part of previous tournaments but unable to secure a place in the final squad.

Trabelsi explained that selection choices were based on tactical needs, competitiveness and the long-term development plan for younger players.

With ten days to go before AFCON 2025 kicks off, Tunisia will now intensify preparations as they target a deep run in the tournament.
