Super Eagles’ coach, Eric Sekou Chelle has provided an indication about the game plan his team will execute during Saturday’s quarter-final clash with Algeria at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Sports247 gathered that the basic strategy the Franco-Malian tactician will adopt is to work on what he believes are weaknesses in the Algerian team.

While also acknowledging that his players should be ready to face lots of pressure from The Fennecs during the encounter in Marrakech, Morocco, Chelle stressed that the Super Eagles must exploit all loopholes of their opponents.

He further admitted during the post-match press conference that there will be a lot of psychological issues and battles of the mind to face during the fixture, but enthused that Nigeria will win if the players follow his instructions.

Chelle declared, “We will work on the weakness of Algeria, but this is the quarter-final. This is a big competition. So, your state of mind and mindset are very important. You have to manage the pressure, manage the opponent, and do what your coach tells you.”

Sports247 adds that Saturday’s match is a playback of the 2019 semi-final, which Algeria won 2-1 with a last-minute direct free-kick by Riyard Mahrez.

Before then, Algeria beat Nigeria on home soil in both the opening match (5-1) and final (1-0) of AFCON 1990; but lost 3-0 ten years earlier during the 1980 ultimate game in Lagos.
