Nigeria’s Super Eagles have been tipped to improve and play much better in Wednesday’s semi-final fixture against Morocco at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, than they have done in their previous five matches.
Sports247 gathered that, though the Nigerians will now have to dislodge the host nation’s team in this midweek cracker, a large number of pundits believe Eric Sekou Chelle’s squad have what it takes to excel.

Expectations for victory in favour of the three-time champions have now expanded, after several previews of the game in Rabat, Morocco noted that Chelle’s side already defeated two other North African countries at AFCON 2025.
Though they had to struggle before defeating Tunisia 3-2 in their second group game of this tournament, the Eagles have improved steadily with each passing fixture, such that their 2-0 cruise over Algeria in the quarter-finals was almost flawless.
As the Eagles keep soaring with each passing match, a preview by UK’s Standard newspaper noted that Chelle’s men will likely step up their form against The Atlas Lions, because they know the stakes are much higher this time out.
The preview noted in part: “The Super Eagles have not been able to call themselves champions of Africa since 2013 but, so far in this tournament, they have looked likelier than ever to end their extended drought.
“They have steadily improved through the tournament; playing their best football so far against their toughest opponent – as they downed Algeria last time out.
“The Super Eagles will need to be at their very best against stiff opposition, though they have all the requisite quality to get the better of the injury-hit Atlas Lions.
“It necessarily follows, then, as they face tournament favourites Morocco, they can be expected to improve further. Nigeria to win, 2-1.”
