Hull City of England defender, Semi Ajayi has admitted that he felt fulfilled with his goal against Tanzania on Tuesday at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and pledged to keep working harder as the competition progresses.
Sports247 reports that Ajayi’s first half goal set the tone for the Eagles’ 2-1 victory in their first game of Geoup C in Fes, Morocco and the towering centre back acknowledged that it was a good start for the team.

The former West Bromwich Albion of England stopper added, “It was an amazing feeling to score at the AFCON. Above all, it’s always an amazing feeling scoring for your country, and I feel great about it.
“I was really pleased to give our team a good start in this game and to set an amazing tone. It’s also good that we are not relying only on the attackers for goals.”
The in-form stopper, who was named man of the match after Tuesday’s encounter, affirmed that everyone in the Eagles’ squad is determined to bring glory home to Nigeria, hence extra efforts from defenders to support the Eagles’ hunt for goals.
Semi Ajayi added, “We all want to do well in this tournament. So, we all have to step up for the team, and the defenders can’t be left out.
“It’s important that we all play our part, not to rely only on the attackers. It’s also very important that we work harder so that we keep the momentum going.”
He then projected into their second match, this Saturday against Group C leaders, Tunisia, who defeated Uganda 3-1 also on Tuesday, and Semi Ajayi pledged: “As the tournament continues, we’ll keep on giving our best.”
