AFCON 2025: President Tinubu’s Senior Special Assistant Anthony Adeyinka Rates Chelle Very High

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s senior special assistant on grassroots sports development, Prince Adeboye Anthony Adeyinka has rated Super Eagles‘ coach, Eric Sekou Chelle very high and praised him for building a crack team at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations.

Prince Adeyinka gave the Franco-Malian tactician lofty commendations while airing his views in an exclusive interview with Sports247 in Morocco, as he analysed the Eagles’ journey so far at AFCON 2025.

He pointed out that Chelle has been able to develop an attacking mentality into the Eagles and then showered accolades on the players for responding to the coach’s tactics with total dedication to duty.

Adeyinka expatiated, “So far, so good. Our Super Eagles have been performing wonderfully well in Morocco. They’ve shown character, attitude and loyalty.

“They’ve shown the love they have for our country, and they want us to forget about the past. They’ve come together as a team, and they are playing with true loyalty.”

The outspoken politician, sports administrator, and philanthropist declared further that the very high level of dedication and cooperation existing in the present Eagles’ squad made it possible for them to surge into the AFCON 2025 semi-finals.

The SSA added, “We’ve seen good team spirit and total dedication among our players. Since the beginning of this competition, they’ve shown everyone that Super Eagles are the giants of Africa.

“The boys have done excellently well, and we also have a good coach who knows the game very well. We have an attack-minded coach in the person of Eric Chelle, and he has done excellently well.”

He concluded by pointing out the basic content that Chelle has added into coaching the Nigerian national team, top of which the president’s senior special assistant revealed is the gaffer’s close affinity and cordial relationship with his players.

“For the first time in the history of Nigerian football, we have a coach who understands the boys very well. He’s a very disciplined, dedicated and loyal coach.

“That’s why he’s able to work effectively together with our players. Their loyalty and dedication is now showing the whole world that Nigeria is the team to beat,” Adeyinka posited.
