Galatasaray of Turkey striker, Victor James Osimhen has spoken out to explain his recent conduct while in action for the Super Eagles, and stated that he does not want to take the team’s glory all alone.
Sports247 reports that, in contrast with recent heated accusations of excessive ambition and pride hurled at him, Osimhen stressed that everything he does is for Nigeria’s national team as a whole.

Osimhen’s retraction comes against the backdrop of a verbal outburst he threw at Ademola Lookman during Nigeria’s 4-0 trouncing of Mozambique, after which both stars played down the incident.
The former SSC Napoli of Italy hitman went in to show how much of a team player he can be by providing an assist for Adams Akor to score against Algeria, and he has now declared that he would rather work hard for Nigeria’s collective glory.
“I just do my job, and I always try to fight for the team. I try to get goals or assists, and I’m happy that I’m able to help the team.
“I don’t want to take all the glory alone. So, I congratulate the whole team for this success,” said Osimhen, who now has four goals and two assists at AFCON 2025.
The Ultimate Strikers of Lagos product, who has also played for VfL Wolfsburg of Germany, Racing Charleroi of Belgium and Lille Metropole of France, added that he is glad being a part of Nigeria’s history chasing squad at AFCON 2025.
“It’s amazing to be part of this history with the Super Eagles. I just want to keep on doing what will make people proud of my country.
“I’m also proud of my country and proud of my teammates,” concluded Osimhen, who will likely captain the Eagles versus Morocco in Wednesday’s semi-final.
Sports247 reports that Osimhen first captained the Super Eagles in their third group match at the ongoing tournament, which a largely rotated line-up won 3-1 against Uganda.
He is bound to get the skipper’s band once again this midweek due to the expected absence of regular captain, Wilfred Onyinyen Ndidi, who is ruled out of the game on account of accumulated yellow cards.
