The Super Eagles had been based in Cairo since Saturday, using the Egyptian capital for final preparations. During their stay, they faced the Pharaohs of Egypt in a friendly match, suffering a 2–1 defeat.
All 28 players selected for the tournament took part in the team’s morning training session on Monday, with Osimhen the only absentee at the time due to his late arrival. The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) confirmed that the striker was expected to join the squad for the evening training session scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
Wingers Samuel Chukwueze and Moses Simon, who arrived early on Monday, featured in the morning session alongside the rest of the squad.
Nigeria will open their AFCON 2025 campaign against Tanzania on December 23, two days after the tournament kicks off. They will also face Tunisia and Uganda in Group C.
According to the NFF, the Super Eagles will travel to Fes on a chartered flight, while Egypt will head to Agadir for their Group B fixtures against South Africa, Angola and Zimbabwe.
The Nigerian squad for the championship includes goalkeepers Francis Uzoho, Stanley Nwabali and Amas Obasogie, alongside a strong outfield cast featuring Wilfred Ndidi, Alex Iwobi, Ademola Lookman, Victor Osimhen, Samuel Chukwueze and Moses Simon, as the three-time African champions target continental glory in Morocco.
