Reacting after the emphatic Round of 16 victory, Onuachu described Nigeria’s performance as clinical, praising the collective effort that produced four goals and a clean sheet.
He singled out Akor Adams for special mention, noting that the Sevilla forward has continued to work tirelessly for the team despite intense competition for places.
“It was a good game for us,” Onuachu said. “We were focused, aggressive and took our chances. I’m really happy for Akor. He has been working very hard in training and during games, and it’s great to see him get his reward with a goal.”
Onuachu added that goals are important, but the most vital thing at this stage of the competition is teamwork and discipline, stressing that everyone in the squad understands their role.
The Trabzonspor striker also emphasized that attention has now shifted fully to the quarterfinals, where Nigeria will face a stern test against Algeria national football team.
“We’ve enjoyed the win, but now it’s about what comes next,” he added. “The quarterfinal is a different level. Algeria are a very strong side, and we know we must be at our best.”
Nigeria will take on Algeria on Saturday in Marrakesh, with a place in the AFCON semifinals at stake as the Super Eagles continue their push for continental glory.
