AFCON 2025: NFF President Ibrahim Gusau Charges Super Eagles To Make Up For World Cup Failure

The President of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau has sent a solemn charge to Super Eagles players to ensure they win the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in order to make up for their failure in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Sports247 reports that Gusau’s declaration came ahead of the commencement of action at AFCON 2025, where Nigeria will begin group play against Tanzania on Tuesday.

The NFF boss admitted that the task of winning the Cup of Nations will not be easy but urged the players to give their best and win a fourth continental for Nigeria.

He reckoned further that winning a fourth continental title would make Nigerians happy and help the Eagles atone for their inability to get to the Mundial for the second straight edition.

Nigeria’s football boss further expressed confidence in the ability of the country’s players and crew, who he noted would also make history for themselves by lifting the trophy early next year.

Gusau declared emphatically, “I have confidence in the coaches and the players that we have to turn the present gloom around and make Nigeria proud in Morocco.

“It will go a long way to assuaging the feelings of our fans, and it will also be good for the present generation of Super Eagles as they will have at least one major triumph to their name.”
