Super Eagles winger Moses Simon has revealed that the team has already begun detailed preparations for their quarterfinal clash against Algeria at the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Speaking ahead of the last-eight encounter, Simon said the players and technical crew are carefully analysing their next opponents, studying Algeria’s style of play, tactical patterns and key individuals as they look to fine-tune their approach.

“We’ve started watching clips and analysing how Algeria play,” Simon said. “At this stage of the tournament, preparation is very important. We want to understand their strengths and how to approach the game.”

The Nantes winger admitted that while Nigeria’s performances so far have been encouraging, there are still areas that need improvement, particularly in maintaining concentration and intensity throughout matches. He stressed that the squad is aware of these lapses and is working hard in training to address them.

“We know we still have things to improve,” he added. “The coaches have pointed them out, and we’re working on them every day. Knockout games are different, and mistakes can be costly.”

Simon emphasized that the Super Eagles remain confident but grounded, noting that AFCON has shown once again that reputation alone does not win matches. According to him, discipline, teamwork and execution will be decisive factors in the quarterfinal.

Nigeria will face Algeria national football team on Saturday in Marrakesh, with a place in the semifinals at stake.

“Algeria are a strong and experienced side,” Simon concluded. “But we believe in ourselves. If we prepare well, stay focused and give everything, we can achieve our goal.”

As the Super Eagles edge closer to the decisive stages of AFCON 2025, Simon’s comments underline a squad determined to combine confidence with careful preparation as they chase continental success.
