The tournament has now reached the semi-final stage, with only four teams left standing — Nigeria, Morocco, Senegal and Egypt — all former AFCON champions, setting the stage for a thrilling climax.
At the heart of the competition have been a number of exceptional individual displays, particularly in attack, where goals and assists have shaped team progress and defined key moments.
Nigeria’s duo of Ademola Lookman and Victor Osimhen have emerged as the tournament’s most productive contributors so far.
Lookman currently tops the goal contribution chart with seven contributions (three goals and four assists), combining creativity with decisive finishing to drive Nigeria’s impressive run.
Close behind him is Osimhen, whose six contributions (four goals and two assists) underline his importance as the Super Eagles’ focal point in attack.
Hot on their heels are two of Africa’s biggest stars. Morocco’s Brahim Diaz has registered five goal contributions, all goals, playing a pivotal role for the host nation, while Egypt captain Mohamed Salah has also recorded five contributions (four goals and one assist) as the Pharaohs chase another continental crown.
Other notable performers include Akor Adams (Nigeria), Sadio Mané (Senegal), Amad Diallo (Ivory Coast) and Ayoub El-Kaabi (Morocco), all of whom have contributed four goals or assists to their respective teams’ campaigns.
With the semi-finals set to decide the finalists, the race for the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the Tournament remains wide open.
While Lookman and Osimhen currently lead the numbers, the performances of Diaz and Salah in the decisive final stages could yet swing the balance.
As AFCON 2025 heads towards its dramatic conclusion, individual brilliance and match-winning moments will likely determine not only the champion, but also who ultimately claims the tournament’s top individual honour.
