Speaking after the Group C encounter in Fès, Ikpeazu admitted that Nigeria’s performance reflects the standard Uganda hope to reach as they continue to grow on the continental stage.

“Nigeria are a very strong team,” Ikpeazu said. “That’s the level we want to get to as a group going forward.”

The forward, who was a constant physical presence for Uganda, also reflected on his personal battle with Super Eagles defender Calvin Bassey, describing their duels as intense and demanding.

“It was a tough game, especially against someone like Bassey,” he added. “He’s strong, aggressive and doesn’t give you space.”

With Uganda now eliminated from the competition, Ikpeazu revealed that his support will firmly lie with Nigeria as the tournament progresses.

“I’m Nigerian by blood, so now that Uganda are out, I’ll be supporting Nigeria to win the trophy in Morocco,” he said.

Ikpeazu praised the Super Eagles’ blend of physicality, pace and quality in possession, noting that their ability to respond quickly after conceding shows maturity and confidence.

“They have players who can hurt you at any moment,” he said. “That’s what makes them dangerous.”

Nigeria finished the group stage with a perfect record of nine points and will now turn attention to the knockout rounds, where Ikpeazu believes they have what it takes to go far.

“They have everything needed to win this tournament,” he concluded.
