Sports247 gathered that the Grammy Award winning crossover music crooner, whose real name is Damini Ebunoluwa Obulu, was denied entry at the airport because customs officials frowned at his ‘excessive jewellery.’
However, considering that Burna Boy was in the North African country to perform at the closing ceremony of the Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday, the CAF boss had to be called upon to clear him at the airport.
The CAF supremo, who is a mining billionaire from South Africa, quickly took up the responsibility and his effort led to a smooth clearance for the Nigerian singer without any further incident.
Details of the incident were revealed by Motsepe himself, which was in contrast with efforts by Burna Boys’ image makers, who issued info through various social media channels that the singer was not involved in any incident ahead of the AFCON 2025 in Rabat .
Contrary to stories circulated by Burna Boys’ image boosters, Motsepe confirmed that he had indeed been called to vouch for the artiste and confirmed that the matter was at that point immediately settled.
Motsepe disclosed, “I was called to intervene because there were challenges at the airport. They said Burna Boy had too many beautiful jewellery and, like in every country, he just has to declare them; and the matter was resolved.”
