Speaking ahead of the clash in Fès, Morocco, Udi stressed that Africa Cup of Nations tournaments are often decided by fine margins and consistency rather than reputation.
“At this stage, every game should be treated like a final,” Udi said. “AFCON is always tough, and the key thing is to avoid defeat.”
Udi explained that while Nigeria secured a 2–1 victory over Tanzania in their opening match, the performance revealed areas that must be addressed quickly as the competition progresses.
“The coaches will review what went wrong against Tanzania, build on the positives and correct the weaknesses,” he added.
The former midfielder noted that while wins are important, maintaining structure and discipline is equally vital, especially against a side like Tunisia that thrives on organisation and tactical awareness.
“Sometimes, even a draw is not a bad result in tournaments like this,” Udi said. “The most important thing is to stay in a strong position in the group.”
Udi also called on Nigerians to continue backing the team, emphasizing that support from home can lift the players during difficult moments.
“The fans should keep supporting the team with prayers and encouragement,” he stated. “Now it’s up to the players to do the work on the pitch.”
He concluded by wishing the Super Eagles an injury-free match against Tunisia, noting that fitness and squad depth could play a major role as the tournament progresses.
Nigeria face Tunisia later today, with both teams aware that the result could significantly shape the outcome of Group C at AFCON 2025.
