Speaking after Nigeria’s emphatic Round of 16 victory, the AC Milan wide man said personal roles and positions no longer matter at this stage of the competition, stressing that adaptation and effort are compulsory for every player in the squad.
“At this level, it’s about the team,” Chukwueze said. “No matter where you are asked to play, you must adapt. The most important thing is effort and commitment. Everyone has to be ready to give everything for Nigeria.”
Chukwueze noted that competition for places within the squad has helped raise standards, as players continue to push one another in training and during matches. He added that the unity in camp has been key to the team’s steady improvement throughout the tournament.
The winger also emphasized that the Super Eagles are fully aware that the knockout phase leaves no room for errors, pointing out that focus and intensity must be maintained for the full duration of every match.
Nigeria’s attention is now firmly fixed on a high-profile quarterfinal encounter against Algeria national football team, set to take place on Saturday in Marrakesh.
“We know Algeria are a very strong and experienced team,” Chukwueze added. “But we believe in ourselves. If we stay disciplined, work hard and fight for each other, we can achieve our goal.”
As the Super Eagles continue their quest for a fourth continental title, Chukwueze insists that collective sacrifice and maximum effort will be decisive as Nigeria battles for a place in the AFCON semifinals.
