Reflecting on Alex’s rise with the national team, Chuka admitted that while he always hoped his son would love the game, he never imagined how far his career would eventually go. He described Alex’s progress as the result of dedication, discipline and consistency over the years.

“I only wanted him to enjoy football,” Chuka said. “Seeing how far he has come now makes me very proud. There is still more ahead of him.”

He also highlighted the influence of Nigerian football legend Austin Jay-Jay Okocha on Alex’s development, noting that Okocha served as a source of inspiration for the family. According to him, the former Super Eagles captain regularly encouraged Alex during his formative years at Arsenal, helping shape his confidence and love for expressive football.

Chuka stressed, however, that Alex has grown into his own player, developing a unique style and personality distinct from his role model, while still embracing the values of hard work and creativity.

As Nigeria prepares for a crucial quarterfinal showdown against Algeria national football team on Saturday in Marrakesh, Alex Iwobi remains a key figure in the Super Eagles’ midfield.

Chuka expressed optimism about the team’s chances, urging the players to stay focused and united as the tournament reaches its decisive phase. He believes the Super Eagles have the quality and mentality to go far, adding that moments like this reflect the reward for years of sacrifice and belief.
