AFCON 2025: Chelle Vows Not Leave Morocco Empty Handed, Eyes Bronze Finish Against Egypt

The three-time African champions are set to take on Egypt’s Pharaohs in the third-place playoff on Saturday at the Mohammed V Stadium in Casablanca.

After finishing as runners-up at the last AFCON in Côte d’Ivoire, the Super Eagles are determined not to leave Morocco empty-handed this time.

Chelle, speaking to journalists on Friday, underlined the importance of ending the tournament on a high.

“We must return to Nigeria with the third place,” the Malian coach stated.

Despite Nigeria’s semi-final exit, Chelle has received praise for guiding the team through an impressive campaign in Morocco.

The 48-year-old also suggested he could rotate his squad for the clash with Egypt, hinting at the inclusion of fresh faces.

Chelle further revealed his desire to expand the team if he remains in charge beyond the tournament.

“If God allows me to continue as coach after the AFCON, I want to introduce more players into the squad,” he said.

The Super Eagles will be aiming to round off their AFCON 2025 journey with a win over Egypt and claim their 9th bronze medal in the history of the competition.

The third-place match kicks off at 5:00 pm WAT.
