Reacting to reports suggesting internal tension, Awaziem described the incident as a normal expression of competitive spirit rather than a sign of division.
The Nantes defender explained that such moments are common in high-level football, especially in tournaments where emotions run high and players are desperate to win.
Awaziem stressed that the issue was quickly addressed within the team and has since been resolved, insisting it will not affect the togetherness of the squad.
According to him, the Super Eagles’ fighting mentality is a strength, not a weakness, and reflects the desire of players to push each other to higher standards.
He added that the atmosphere in camp remains positive, with players united by a shared objective of going deep into the tournament.
Awaziem noted that communication among teammates, both during and after matches—has been strong, helping to keep focus on collective success.
The defender also pointed to Nigeria’s commanding performance against Mozambique as evidence of cohesion, highlighting the teamwork shown in both attack and defence throughout the match.
With the Super Eagles now preparing for the quarter-finals, Awaziem insists unity remains intact and believes the team’s competitive edge will only help them as the challenges become tougher at AFCON 2025.
