AFCON 2025: Akor Adams Dedicates First Tournament Goal to His Mother

Super Eagles forward Akor Adams has expressed joy after scoring his first goal at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, following Nigeria’s dominant 4–0 victory over Mozambique in the Round of 16.

Adams, who found the net late in the encounter, revealed that the goal held deep personal meaning as he dedicated it to his mother.

The Sevilla striker disclosed that his mother had been hospitalized ahead of the match due to health concerns, but thankfully is now in a stable condition.

He described the moment as emotional, saying the goal was a source of relief and motivation after a difficult period off the pitch.

Adams added that despite personal challenges, his focus remains firmly on helping the team succeed at the tournament.

The striker also emphasized that the Super Eagles are already looking ahead to the quarterfinals, insisting that the squad remains united and determined.

According to him, individual achievements come second to the collective objective of winning matches and progressing further in Morocco.

Adams concluded by thanking his teammates and coaching staff for their support, stressing that the team’s mindset is now fully centered on preparing for the next opponent as Nigeria chase continental glory at AFCON 2025.
