AFCON 2025: 21 Players in Camp as Super Eagles Train Under Floodlights, Battle-Ready for Egypt

The Super Eagles of Nigeria stepped up preparations for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) on Monday night, holding an intense floodlit training session as 21 invited players reported to camp ahead of Tuesday’s international friendly against Egypt.

The session, conducted at the team’s base in Cairo, focused on tactical organisation, ball circulation and match sharpness, as the coaching crew continued to assess player readiness ahead of the continental showpiece in Morocco.

Goalkeepers Francis Uzoho, Stanley Nwabali and Amas Obasogie all trained, further heightening the competition for the number-one jersey.

The defensive unit, led by Calvin Bassey, Semi Ajayi and Zaidu Sanusi, worked on shape and transitions, while midfielders Wilfred Ndidi, Frank Onyeka and Raphael Onyedika provided balance and intensity in drills.

In attack, creative players such as Alex Iwobi, Ademola Lookman and Chidera Ejuke combined with forwards Paul Onuachu, Cyril Dessers and Akor Adams during shooting and small-sided games, underlining Nigeria’s attacking depth.
