AFCON 2019: Eagles Won’t Get Carried Away -Amapakabo

Super Eagles assistant coach, Imama Amapakabo has promised that the players and crew will not get carried away by their home and away victories against Libya in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Although the former Rangers International of Enugu and El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri handler admitted beating Libya 7-2 on aggregate was a feat worth relishing, he said the team will stay calm.

Amapakabo stated in a chat with sports247.ng that the team cannot afford to allow the achievement distract their focus, as they still have two more matches to play before sealing the ticket to AFCON 2019.

While acknowledging that they are close to achieving the espied task of qualifying for Cameroon 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, Amapakabo said the players must stay focused and avoid anything that could make them relax before next month’s decisive game against South Africa.

Speaking further with sports247.ng on Thursday, Amapakabo said the Eagles will not talk about South Africa’s inability to beat Seychelles on Tuesday, as he stressed that they must concentrate on their own games.

Amapakabo added: “The Super Eagles at this point should not bother with other results in our group.

“What we know is that winning our own game will get the team to play at the Cup of Nations next year.

“Our focus ios now on beating South Africa at their home in November, which means we would be achieving qualification before the end of the qualifiers.”
