Ademola Lookman To Settle Scores With Raphael Onyedika Next Tuesday In UEFA Champions League

Atletico Madrid winger, Ademola Lookman will have to wait until next week Tuesday before he settles scores with Raphael Onyedika of Club Brugge in the UEFA Champions League, after they settled for a 3-3 draw on Wednesday.

Sports247 reports that Lookman and Onyedika were both among the goal scorers on Wednesday night in Brugge, but the Belgian hosts had to work hard unto the dying minutes to pull level with their Spanish visitors.

Onyedika could have scored earlier had Atletico’s goalkeeper, Jan Oblak not been alert to pull off a fine save to keep out the Super Eagles’ midfielder’s long-range effort midway through the first half.

However, the visitors from Madrid doubled their advantage in first-half stoppage time, as Antoine Griezmann flicked on Marcos Llorente’s corner, and Lookman turned the ball home from point-blank range.

Brugge halved the deficit seven minutes after the restart thanks to Onyedika, after which Christos Tzolis’ brilliant angled finish ensured the aggregate score remained level before next Tuesday’s second leg in Madrid.

At the end of the night’s proceedings, Atlético and Brugge played out a pulsating 3-3 draw in their UCL knockout play-off first leg, with Lookman’s side still waiting for a first away win versus Onyedika’s side, after five attempts (D2, L3).

The result also extends Brugge’s unbeaten run against Spanish teams to six games (W2, D4), while Lookman’s team have won just one of their last five games on the road across all competitions (D3, L1).
