Ademola Lookman Rattled By Smashed Window Of Atletico Madrid’s Bus

Atletico Madrid of Spain winger, Ademola Lookman appeared to have been rattled by a smashed window of his club’s bus minutes before they entered the pitch to tango Barcelona Tuesday night in the Copa del Rey.

Sports247 gathered that Lookman appeared worst affected among all his teammates, as the often dazzling Super Eagles’ star put up his most unexciting performance since his arrival from Atalanta of Italy in January.

Lookman had to be yanked off in the 58th minute of the encounter, but that did not turn the tide for the visitors, who conceded three goals on the night in Catalonia, as they barely managed to hold on and pull through into the next round 4-3 on aggregate.

Whispers from the travelling fans of Los Rojiblancos suggested that Lookman has always been known to be highly emotional, hence the sensitive manner in which he reacted most of all to the attack on his team’s bus as it drove into Barca’s home ground.

It marked a major downturn for the former Charlton Athletic, Everton, Fulham and Leicester City of England winger, whose previous stints outside the country of his birth were two shaky spells at RB Leipzig of Germany.

He has been in hot form since his switch from Bergamo in Italy to Madrid in Spain, with seven goals and same number of assists already to his name, one of which came in his side’s 4-0 demolotion of Barca during last week’s first leg of their King’s Cup semi final.

A report by UK’s Daily Mail added, “Barcelona ultras reportedly smashed a window of Atletico Madrid’s team bus during their hostile arrival at the Nou Camp.

“With the Catalan giants looking to overturn a four-goal deficit in their Copa del Rey second leg on Tuesday evening, riot police were deployed to guard against disorder as raucous fans gathered outside the stadium.

“Footage shared on social media showed hordes of supporters lining the streets, waving red flares as baton-wielding officers watched on.

“In one video, a policeman had to kick away a flare after it landed on the ground before the Atletico team bus arrived.

“According to Marca, a group of ‘local hooligans’ then began launching missiles upon the arrival of Diego Simeone and his players.

“The Spanish outlet added that one of the objects ‘hit its target’ and ‘ended up breaking the window of the team’s official team bus’ amid the chaos.”
