Ademola Lookman Hails Osimhen On Super Eagles’ Top Scorer’s 27th Birthday

Atalanta of Italy winger, Ademola Lookman, is reeling in words of praise for his Nigerian colleague, Victor Osimhen, who clocked 27 years old on Monday, December 29th.

Sports247 reports that Osimhen marked his birthday in the Super Eagles’ camp for the first time in his life, but it had to be in a low-key style, because they have a game with Uganda on Tuesday.

The Galatasaray of Turkey striker’s birthday also came just two days after he scored with a wonderful header in the Eagles’ 3-2 victory against Tunisia at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

It was a breathtaking goal that eventually ended a jinx, which initially kept the 2023 African Footballer of the Year stuck on a single goal from nine AFCON games.

Osimhen’s goal on Saturday, which came after two of his powerful headers went over the bar and a tap-in was ruled out for offside, became a wonderful birthday gift for him, while also taking his total haul for Nigeria to 32.

That means he is now just five goals behind Nigeria’s legendary all-time top scorer, Rashidi Yekini (37), and Lookman pointed out that his pal is good at scoring goals.

Lookman also spoke about how they both provided assists for each other to score their respective goals against Tunisia, which the former England youth international said is a confirmation of the deep level of understanding between them.

“He scores great goals. He’s good at scoring goals, and we have a good rapport together – off and on the pitch.

“We try to find each other on the pitch, and we get along pretty well together. He’s always quick and strong on his feet,” Lookman further eulogised.

Sports247 gathered that Osimhen is already finalising the process of luring Lookman over to join him at Galatasaray of Turkey in 2026.

That would be further confirmation of the strong affinity between Osimhen and the 28-year-old star that took over from him as Africa’s player of the year in 2024.
