Access Bank Lagos City Marathon Planning Is On Course – Alli

The general manager of Access Bank Lagos City Marathon, Yussuf Alli has declared that everything is on course to make the race a huge success and very remarkable venture on Saturday.

 

 

Sports247.ng gathered that Alli and other members of the organising committee have taken closer looks at all aspects of the programme and concluded that all the athletes will not have any cause for complaint.

The former long jump champion stated further that the terrain is smooth, the field of competitors is loaded and incentive top nocht, such that all the athletes from home and abroad will enjoy the event.

He added that, with the calibre of athletes on the start list, he expects a course record to emerge and even a world leading time at the end of the race on Saturday.

The men’s race record of 2:13:04 s held by Abraham Kiptrotich of France, while that for women is held by Rodah Jepkorir with a time of 2:37:52.

Top runners already confirmed for the day are Patrick Kipyegon Terer, Moses Kigen Kipkosgei, Agnes Jeruto Kiptocich all from Kenya as well as Ethiopia’s Herpa Almenesh Guta, who won last year’s women’s race.

Alli confirmed that the race will be flagged off at 7am in front of Lagos National Stadium, Surulere, with high expectations of a smooth event.

He enthused: “Everything is on course for the athletes to compete favourably and produce good performances.
“I expect that a new course record or a world leading time to established here on Saturday.”
