More information is spreading regarding this year’s Abuja City International Half Marathon, as organisers have promised that it will provide ‘a memorable experience’ for all participants.
Sports247 reports that this assurance came from the race’s chief executive officer, Mrs Yetunde Olopade, while providing updates about ongoing preparations ahead of the event scheduled for November 14th in Abuja.
Mrs Olopade, who is managing director of the race organisers, Nilayo Sports Management Limited, added that the half marathon will further show the world what Nigeria is made of, as the country’s capital gets ready for one of its biggest days.
She disclosed that the event has grown into one of Nigeria’s most respected road races, with opportunities for elite athletes, fitness lovers, recreational runners, corporate teams as well as families to get involved from all across the nation and beyond.
“It is not just about the race. It is about athletics, fitness, entertainment, sports tourism and what Abuja represents to the world. What started as a marathon is now a movement. A movement for healthy living. A movement for youth engagement. A movement for national unity.
“Every year, thousands of people take to the streets of Abuja not just to run, but to be part of something bigger than themselves. This year will be no different, only bigger,” said Olopade, while assuring that this year’s edition will build on past successes and meet international standards.
She added: “We are focused on athlete welfare, world-class logistics, medical support, security and a memorable experience for runners, volunteers, spectators and partners. This year’s race will be bigger, better and more immersive for everyone.”
Sports247 gathered further that, with improved route management, entertainment zones, medical service, security arrangements and richer spectator experience, the 2026 Abuja City International Half Marathon promises a memorable day of sports tourism in the nation’s capital.
