As the curtain draws near on the 2024/2025 Nigeria National League (NNL) season, ABS Ilorin FC is set for a high-stakes showdown this Saturday, 14th June 2025, when they face Kun Khalifa FC in their final home fixture at the Rashidi Yekini Mainbow Major General George Innih Stadium, Ilorin, Kwara State.
The club’s leadership, spearheaded by Director of Football Chief Alloy Chuwuemeka and Kwara State Football Association Chairman Malam Idris Musa Abdullahi (popularly known as Thuraya), has issued a passionate rallying cry to the players ahead of the crucial match, which could determine the club’s future in professional football.
Speaking during a spirited Salah get-together on Monday evening at the Henry George Hotel, Chief Chuwuemeka underscored the gravity of the match. “This game is more than just three points — it’s our ticket to maintaining professional league status,” he told players and coaching staff. “It’s not enough to win — we must win convincingly.”
In a move designed to boost morale, Chuwuemeka delivered a goodwill message from the club’s Proprietor, His Excellency Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, who expressed his admiration for the team’s commitment and improvement throughout the season.
“Dr. Saraki used to gift the team a ram for Salah. This year, hearing of your impressive performances, he upgraded that to a cow,” Chuwuemeka announced to cheers. “Your Salah celebration package, including the cow, will be waiting for you after your return from Abakaliki.”
But the good news didn’t stop there. In a major financial lift, Chuwuemeka revealed that all outstanding salaries and bonuses have been approved and will be paid by 10:00 a.m. Monday morning. “This is a mandate. Go out there and fight for this club. His Excellency is fully behind you,” he charged.
Echoing the sentiment, Malam Thuraya stressed the pivotal nature of the game. “Saturday’s match is not just another fixture. It’s a battle for our identity, our pride, and our future in the NNL,” he said.
Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to nurturing young talent through the ABS Ilorin FC platform, emphasizing Dr. Saraki’s vision of seeing the club ascend to the Premier League.
As the city of Ilorin braces for a decisive day in its football history, ABS Ilorin FC is calling on fans, supporters, and the entire community to come out in full force to support the team. Kickoff is set for 4:00 p.m. — and the stakes have never been higher.
This Saturday, it’s more than a game — it’s a mission. And ABS Ilorin FC is ready.
