Nigeria Premier Football League side Abia Warriors of Umuahia, famously nicknamed The Warlords, have completed the signing of young hot-shot striker Chindi Merpring from Edel FC of Anambra, known as The Galloping Zebras in the Nigeria National League.
Merpring joined Edel FC mid-season and wasted no time making an impact, scoring 5 goals in just 7 league appearances. His outstanding form caught the eye of the Abia Warriors’ technical team, prompting the move for an undisclosed fee.

Standing tall and lean, the new No. 9 is set to bring a commanding presence to the Warlords’ attack, combining aerial dominance with remarkable composure in front of goal. His pre-season form has already turned heads, netting 7 goals, including an incredible four-goal haul in a single match.
Merpring also opened his account early in the Valuejet Cup in Ikenne, scoring against Kwara United inside just six minutes, further underlining his natural goal-scoring instinct.
Abia Warriors, who will be making their maiden appearance in the competition, will face Malian outfit, Djoliba in the first preliminary round.
The winner will face either Burkina Faso’s USFA or Togo’s AS Gbohloe-su in the second preliminary round.
