Echefu disclosed that the competition, which begins this Tuesday, 7th April will run for a week, with the final taking place on the 14th, during which participating teams will compete in intense matches and players get opportunities to showcase their skills.

He added that the competition is structured to encourage teamwork and determination among all participants, then stressed that it is not just about playing football on the pitch alone, but also for community development and youth empowerment.

“We want to develop our communities and youths through sports. We will lecture all the participants. Scouts from Jaguar Football Club will also be present to identify and recruit the best talents.

“We hope to lay a strong foundation for grassroots football development in Abia State and Nigeria as a whole. This we will do by inspiring more young talents to pursue their dreams and elevate themselves.

“This tournament will feature 45 teams across Abia State and beyond. It’s a vibrant platform for young footballers to demonstrate their skills and passion for the game. It is designed with the vision of discovering raw talents.”

He further disclosed that the maiden competition, which is powered by Jaguar Sports International and Triple VFR Limited, is a significant milestone in the federation’s efforts to nurture hidden football talents from the grassroots level.

Among the participating teams are Fireline, Pacific, Elite Fountain, Experience, Classic, Livinpop, Mayor, Billie, Life, Guinness, Njaka, Rock, Sunshine, Bright Stars, Emirates, Warriors, Ahead Eagles, Golden Knights, Austino and Real Madrid.

Others are Golden Boys, Olympians, Abbey, Rising Stars, Harrison, Young Stars, Rukky, Ovid, Sammy, Champions, Golden City, Greater Tomorrow, Pepsi, Otangele Boys, Future Stars, Rivers of Life, Tiger Boys, Peculiar Boys and Atlantic Lions.

“I am happy that we are hosting this in Abia State. I believe there are many talented young players scattered all over the streets of Abia, and this tournament is our way of uncovering and nurturing that talent.

“The competition aims to give grassroots players an opportunity to shine on a bigger stage and attract attention from scouts, clubs, and football authorities. We want to give back to our society by creating opportunities for these young stars.

“We want to provide an effective and vibrant platform that will help them all excel in football,” Echefu reiterated, even as he confidently assured that the first edition of the competition will set high standards for others to follow.
