“A Pillar of Progress and Passion” – Ogun FA Chairman Hails SSG Tokunbo Talabi on Birthday

As Ogun State continues to enjoy remarkable strides in youth development and grassroots sports, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr. Tokunbo Talabi, stands tall as one of the key architects behind this progress. His birthday, celebrated just yesterday, served as more than a personal milestone—it became a moment of reflection and gratitude across the state’s sporting community.

For Alhaji Ganiyu Majekodunmi, Chairman of the Ogun State Football Association and Executive Board Member of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), it was an opportunity to pay heartfelt tribute to a man whose leadership has left an indelible mark on the state’s sporting landscape.

“Mr. Tokunbo Talabi is not just a public servant; he is a passionate believer in the power of sports as a tool for empowerment, unity, and progress,” Alhaji Majekodunmi said, speaking from the association’s secretariat in Abeokuta.

“Yesterday, as we joined the good people of Ogun State to celebrate his birthday, we also celebrated a legacy of vision, commitment, and results.”

The FA chairman recalled numerous moments when Mr. Talabi’s support made the difference—from facilitating youth-focused initiatives to championing the development of community football structures.

According to Majekodunmi, the SSG’s contributions have consistently created pathways for young talents to emerge, and for dreams to be nurtured.

“He has been a dependable ally to the sports sector. His open-door policy, willingness to listen, and actions that follow his words have brought about real change. In grassroots football alone, his impact has been profound,” he said.

Majekodunmi noted that Mr. Talabi’s birthday is a reminder that true leadership goes beyond policy and politics—it is about people. “We are grateful for his life, and even more thankful for the way he uses it to serve the people of Ogun State. The football family stands with him today and always.”

The Ogun State Football Association, alongside its many partners and affiliates, continues to celebrate Mr. Tokunbo Talabi—not just for the years he has lived, but for the lives he has touched.
