Ayeni said he was excited to help Right Vision set the ball rolling dramatically in the 2024 edition of the competition named in honour of former ministry of sports and Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) stalwart, Alhaji Liasu Olayiwola Ayinde Balogun (aka LAB).

Though he agreed it was a great result for his side, Ayeni confessed that he never thought it would end as it did, considering that the game started with a high tempo.

He declared, “It was a very exciting and interesting game, but I was so surprised with the result.

“When we started, it was like we would not meet up with the pace. But, glory be to God, we later got into the game and won with a glorious score.”

While recalling that his side also had a hat trick against the same team in last year’s edition, Ayeni enthused that it is a sign of a glorious competition ahead for Right Vision FC.

He also expressed optimism that his team would be able to claim the trophy this year, haven lost the first semi-final to eventual champions, Melody FC in 2023.

The exuberant youngster put their stunning victory down to the ability of all players in the squad to follow instructions of their coach and expressed hope that it would be better in forthcoming fixtures.

“Let me just say it’s because we played to our coach’s instructions. With this result, I think we can do more than this in our subsequent matches,” Ayeni concluded.
