Inaugural UNIMATT Challenge Cup Draws Excitement With Twelve Registered Teams

Agbor is abuzz with anticipation as twelve teams have officially signed up to compete in the inaugural UNIMATT Football Tournament, slated to kick off from February 29th to March 9th, 2024.

The announcement came via a press release from Coach Harrison Obodo, Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) and Vice President of the Agbor Coaches and Directors Union (AFCADU).

The release highlighted the enthusiasm surrounding the tournament and revealed the diverse array of teams set to vie for glory.

Leading the pack is the formidable Big Daddy FC, reigning champions of both the AFCADU 3rd Edition and the AFCADU Champions League.

Under the guidance of Coach Ibrahim, Big Daddy FC aims to further embellish their illustrious trophy cabinet.

Joining them are prominent clubs such as KG Sports FA, Delta Milan FC, UNIMATT FC, Winners FC, Ultimate FC, Starpeak FC, Emerald FC, Green Rangers, and Ika Lions FC.

Additionally, newly affiliated members Acquire FC and Diamond 07 FC have thrown their hats into the ring, adding further excitement to the tournament mix.

The tournament, generously sponsored by Mr Oribhabor Matthew, Director of UNIMATT FC (formerly Rainbow FC), promises substantial rewards for the victors.

The champion team will walk away with One Hundred and Twenty Thousand Naira, while the first and second runners-up will receive Eighty Thousand Naira and Sixty Thousand Naira, respectively.

Cash awards will also be bestowed upon the Best Player, Highest Goal Scorer, and Best Goalkeeper.

Expressing his philanthropic motive behind sponsoring the tournament, “I want to give back to the community that developed me in my little way” he stated.

“I hope that this tournament will help to discover talents and also expose them to scouts in the future, matches will be recorded and clubs are encouraged to make videos for their marketing profiles” he added.

In addition to the main tournament, spectators can look forward to a thrilling novelty match between the Agbor Coaches and Director Union and Boji Boji All-Stars before the finals.

The tournament format will follow a straight knockout basis, with clubs given until February 20th to finalize their registrations.

With excitement building and anticipation mounting, the UNIMATT Challenge Cup promises to be an unforgettable event for players, fans, and the community alike.
