The 2023 Nigeria Premier Football League season is set to kick off in a few days and teams are already wrapping up preparations for their opening games of the season Sports247.ng reports.
Shooting Stars Sports Club is one of those who have had a huge preseason, playing lots of games as well as signing players such as the Alimi brothers, Sikiru and Jamiu Alimi, who will be playing in their father’s shoes as well as Anthony Okachi amongst others.
In his first words as an official player of Shooting Stars, Okachi expressed his desire to help the team to secure a continental ticket as well as assuring fans of the best.
“Honestly, I just want a continental ticket for the team as that’s my priority right now and not my self. The fans should expect the best from us because whenever we’re on the pitch we’ll try to give our best, put smiles on the faces of our fans and it’s going to be a good season,” Okachi told Sports247.
In what was his first preseason with a Nigerian club in Nigeria, Okachi was happy with the preparations and stated the team was ready to go.
“Preseason was good for me as an individual and also as a team and it was a good experience having my first preseason with a Nigerian team, he said.
“We’re prepared and we have our aims and target for the season and I believe we’re really good to go,” Okachi concluded.
Shooting Stars kick off their 2023 NPFL season with a trip to Jos to face Plateau United before a clash with Kwara United and then swiftly the first derby for them when they face Remo Stars in Ikenne.
