Coach of the National Under 18 Male National Handball Team Coach Emeka Nnamani is confident that his young team will make the country proud at the upcoming 15th Male Africa Youth Championship.
The National Cadet team are in close camping at the Aguiyi Ironsi Cantonment, Abuja, ahead of the biennial continental Championship which holds Agadir, Morocco and Coach Emeka believe that the intensive preparation the boys are currently undergoing will give them an edge at the competition.
He further said his goal is to ensure that the team surpasses the records set in 2018 when they finished third at the competition in Marrakech, Morocco.
” The 25 players in camp are all doing very well as they are responding as well as coping with the high intensity of training and technical tactical play.
With this, I want to believe we will achieve better results than that of 2019″.
The Coach of Najet academy handball club also said the team will do everything possible to ensure that they get a ticket for the world championship and also win the competition.
“Our aim is to win the competition and then qualify for the World Championship and we will ensure that we work hard enough to achieve what we set out to do”
Coach Emeka Joseph Nnamani also praised the Sam Ocheho led Handball Federation of Nigeria board for ensuring they have the best of facilities for camping and comfortable accommodation which has made the team focus more on the job at hand.
“We also want to thank the HFN president and the board for their supports in seeing that we have all the necessary things we need in the camp.
I must confess that we’ve never had it this way before in terms of preparation.
I dare say that this is one of the best national team camps we’ve had; if not the best we ever had recently”.
The Africa Youth Handball Championship will hold from March 16-21, 2021 in Agadir, Morocco.
