Enyimba Fc today crashed out of the CAF Champions League, despite winning 2-1 in Aba against El Meireikh of Sudan in their return leg tie of the CAF Champions League final knockout round, Sports247 reports.
The Peoples Elephant who lost 3-0 to the Sudanese giants in the first leg were defeated 4-2 on aggregate to ensure their demotion to the CAF Confederation Cup, rather than the group stages of the CAF Champions League.
Saif gave the visitors the lead as earlier as the 5th minute of the game, but a brace (two goals) from Mbaoma in the 14th and 51st minutes gave Enyimba the win, but it wasn’t enough to see Fatai Osho’s team through to the group stages of CAF first-tier competition.
Following that defeat to the Sudanese side, the Peoples Elephant will now play in the CAF Confederation Cup, as El Meireikh progresses to the group stages of the CAF Champions League.
