Despite settling his future with Sunshine stars, striker Israel Abia is yet to score a goal in 4 games consecutively for the Akure gunners in the NPFL but the striker’s 7 goals however still tops the scorers chart for the season.
Abia is joined at the top of the chart by Katsina United’s captain, Taisu Lawal and Ibrahim Mustapha of Plateau United who netted a brace in their 5-0 thrashing of Adamawa United yesterday. Following closely with 6 goals remains Enyimba’s Victor Mbaoma who has not found the back of the net with the poor run of form of the defending champions in recent weeks.
Complementing Ibrahim’s goal scoring form is Uche Onwuasoanya and Abba Umar who have been banging in the goals for plateau united. Both strikers now has 4 goals for the season making the league leaders the highest scorers of the league with 26 goals.
For Abia Warriors, while Jimoh Oni has not scored in recent games, Bello Lukman cannot stop scoring for the team. Since his first goal some weeks ago, the young striker has netted twice to take his tally for the season to three while Ifeanyi George’s brace gave Enugu Rangers the win over Abia warriors yesterday.
