OMA football Academy Ibadan emerged champions of the inaugural edition of the KG Sports Football Tournaments held at Redeem Camp Car Park C Sports Ground after defeating KG Sports Academy 3-0 in an epic finals.
Six Teams from Oyo, Ogun and Lagos States took part in the tournament organized by KG Sports Foundation. OMA Football Academy Ibadan, Lamp Academy Ofada, Future Pillars Academy Mowe, Shinning Stars Academy Lagos, Selected Side and host KG Sports Academy Mowe
To get to the Finals, OMA FC topped group B winning Shinning Stars 3-1, Came from Behind to defeat Selected side 2-1 before smashing KG Sports Academy 3-0 in the finals.
KG Sports Academy Defeated Future Pillars 2-0 and Lamp Academy 1-0 to top group A before succumbing to the experienced OMA Academy boys 3-0 in the finals.
” We came with the intent to continue to expose our Boys to top quality Competitions, It took them time to to get into the game after the Trip From Ibadan Last night and little rest before tournament started this morning, but they got on well and we are happy to win this tournament” Coach Demola Kudaisi, Former Shooting Stars Player said after the tournament,
” My boys did well, they lost to a better team, we only started about 6 months ago and for them to get to the finals was a great achievement for us” KG Sports Academy Manager Michael Isioma Ekeh said.
” We played against a much Matured and Experienced team in the finals, My Boys average age is about 11years old and it showed in the final when we met the Ibadan Team, we hope to do better next time” He Added
Certificate of Participation was presented to all members of the Finalists along with Trophies by Dr. Ken Gadaffi, Founder of KG sports Foundation. All Participating teams also received a Set of Training Bibs.
” I am happy to see these young players have opportunities to display their talents, this is just the beginning of greater things to come for the KG sports Football Tournament, and i hope in future, this tournament will help to produce future stars that will go on to play for the National Team” The Erudite professor and Special Adviser to the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia enthused.
” We hope to attract more partners and Sponsors for this Grassroot Football Initiative so that we can return in again in 2020 with more Age Grades included” he added
