The 25-year-old forward joined the Dutch giants on a season-long loan in July, with an option to make the transfer permanent at the end of the 2026/27 campaign.

According to reports published by The PUNCH and Sports Mole, Ajax are already working towards securing a permanent agreement for the Nigerian international, although the clubs have not publicly confirmed that a deal has been reached.

Arokodare’s resurgence has strengthened his case for a longer stay at the Johan Cruyff Arena after a difficult spell at Wolverhampton Wanderers, where he struggled to establish himself following his arrival from Belgian side Genk.

The striker has reportedly registered nine goals and three assists in 14 appearances across competitions for Ajax this season, giving the club a compelling reason to consider retaining him beyond his current loan spell.

His recent performances have been particularly encouraging in the Eredivisie, where he has scored in five of his last seven league appearances as Ajax pursue a strong domestic campaign.

Arokodare was also decisive in Ajax’s recent European outing against Atalanta, scoring late before setting up Abdellah Ouazane in stoppage time during a 2–0 victory in the UEFA Conference League.

The performance further underlined his growing influence in the side, despite not always starting matches or completing the full 90 minutes.

Ajax’s reported interest comes after a difficult first season in England for the striker. Wolves signed Arokodare from Genk in 2025, but he managed six goals across competitions as the club endured a disappointing campaign that ended in relegation from the Premier League.

His move to Amsterdam offered an opportunity to rebuild his confidence and rediscover the goalscoring form that made him one of Belgium’s most productive forwards during the 2024/25 season.

Arokodare finished that campaign as the Belgian Pro League’s leading scorer with Genk, earning recognition that helped secure his move to England.

The terms of his current loan include an option for Ajax to buy him, although the precise fee and whether the Dutch club intend to activate the clause or negotiate a different arrangement remain unclear.

For Wolves, the decision could depend on the financial terms available and their own attacking needs. For Ajax, securing the Nigerian forward could provide continuity in a position where his recent output has strengthened his value to the team.

Arokodare’s future is therefore likely to remain a subject of interest as the season progresses, with his performances in Amsterdam potentially determining whether the temporary move becomes a permanent transfer.
