Young female football coach Adeleye Oluwatosin Olamiposi has declared her determination to challenge gender stereotypes in football coaching, inspire the next generation of female coaches and build a successful career at the highest level of the profession.
Olamiposi shared her ambitions during an exclusive interview with Sports247 at the CAF D Licence Coaching Course held at Agro Terra Resort, Joga-Orile, in Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The coaching development programme, featuring 40 participants, provides a platform for aspiring and practising coaches to strengthen their knowledge of modern football and develop professionally.
‘Coaching Is Not Limited by Gender’
Speaking about the motivation behind her coaching journey, Olamiposi explained that her passion for football and commitment to developing young talents remain the driving forces behind her ambitions.
“What keeps me pushing as a young female coach is my passion for football, my love for developing young talents, and my determination to prove that coaching is not limited by gender,” she told Sports247.
“I believe that women have a valuable role to play in the growth and development of football.”
Her comments highlight the importance of creating opportunities for women to participate in football beyond playing, particularly in technical and leadership positions.
Olamiposi acknowledged that pursuing a coaching career as a woman can involve significant challenges, including stereotypes and doubts about women’s capabilities.
However, she remains determined to overcome those obstacles.
“Although the journey may come with challenges, stereotypes, and moments of doubt, I see every challenge as an opportunity to grow stronger, learn more, and become better at what I do,” she explained.
Rather than allowing those difficulties to discourage her, the young coach views them as motivation to improve her knowledge and professional abilities.
Beyond her personal ambitions, Olamiposi hopes her journey will encourage more girls and women to pursue careers in football.
“My dream is to inspire other young girls and women to believe in themselves and pursue their dreams in football without fear,” she said.
She also emphasised the importance of making a positive impact on young players.
“For me, this is more than just coaching; it is a purpose.”
Looking ahead, Olamiposi believes dedication and continuous education can create opportunities for women to succeed at the highest level.
“I want my journey to show that with passion, discipline, hard work, and continuous learning, a woman can rise through the ranks and succeed at the highest level of football.”
For Olamiposi, the CAF D Licence course represents another step towards achieving her ambitions while demonstrating that talent, commitment and coaching ability should never be defined by gender.
