The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has invited team managers of clubs expected to qualify for the group stages of the 2026/27 CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup to attend the competitions’ draw ceremony scheduled for October 28 in Egypt.
Sport247 reports that the draw will be followed by a two-day workshop for club managers from October 29 to 30 at CAF headquarters in Cairo.
The draw ceremony is expected to take place at the Egyptian Football Association headquarters in 6th of October City, as clubs across the continent prepare for the next phase of Africa’s two major interclub competitions.
The invitation comes as the preliminary rounds approach their conclusion, with the second-leg fixtures of the second preliminary round scheduled for October 23 to 25. The results will determine the clubs that secure places in the group stages of both competitions.
The group stages are scheduled to begin in late November, with the first round of matches planned for November 27 to 29, 2026, according to CAF’s published competition calendar. Subsequent matchdays are scheduled to run through January 2027.
The Champions League and Confederation Cup remain key competitions in African club football, offering participating teams the opportunity to compete for continental honours.
With the preliminary rounds nearing completion, the October 28 draw will establish the group-stage matchups and provide qualified clubs with a clearer picture of the challenges ahead in the 2026/27 campaign.
