England’s Nigerian-born rugby national team winger, Immanuel Feyi-Waboso is in a race against time to be fully fit for The Lions’ Nations Championship campaign next month, Sports247 reports.
Although Feyi-Waboso stated confidently that he will be fit to feature in the competition, after a scan on a hamstring injury revealed a positive prognosis, England’s rugby officials are still staying cautious over the 23-year-old star’s full recovery.

This follows ongoing anxious checks on Feyi-Waboso’s situation, after he limped off just 15 minutes into the second half of his Premier Rugby League club, Exeter’s 34-28 win over Newcastle on Sunday.
A report out of England added, “Feyi-Waboso missed this year’s Six Nations after hurting his hamstring in January but has started every league game for Exeter this season – although he will be absent for Sunday’s European Champions Cup trip to French champions Toulouse.
“As a centrally contracted England player, national team officials have the final say over Feyi-Waboso’s treatment. He has been assessed by an England physio, with Steve Borthwick’s side due to play the first of their final three Nations Championship games against Australia at Twickenham’s Allianz Stadium on 8 November.”
Sports247 reports further that Feyi-Waboso was a key part of all three of England’s Nations Championship games over the summer and crossed for tries against Fiji and Argentina, which makes him a sore miss for club and country.
Exeter’s director of rugby, Rob Baxter told BBC Sport: “How he’s reporting on it post-game and there’s nothing I’m hearing from our physios saying there should be a long-term issue. He had a scan, (but it) doesn’t show up too much.
“It’s one of those things, scans tend to always show something, but actually on testing he’s very good. So we’re hopeful that we can kind of almost treat the symptoms he’s showing and see where he gets to over the next week or so.”
