As messages of sympathy continue flowing towards the players, coaches, officials, fans and management of Crown FC of Ogbomosho, organisers of a pre-season football competition have joined the roll call, Sports247 gathered.
The latest flood of sympathy for the Oyo State-owned club has come from organisers of AFH Pre-season Tournament – African Football Holding – who issued a press release to express their shock and solidarity with the team, following an accident that involved their bus on Thursday.
Videos and pictures of the team bus in ruins after the crash went viral on social media all through Thursday, following which lots of emotional reactions rolled in from various sections of Nigeria’s football community in support of the team.
AFH joined the huge expressions of sympathy through the tournament’s general coordinator and head of organising committee, Tunde Shamsudeen, who disclosed that he was totally shocked when he heard news of the accident.
Shamsudeen stated in the media release, “We received with deep shock and concern the news of the road accident involving your team while travelling to Ijebu-Ode. We are sincerely grateful that, despite the frightening incident, most players sustained minor injuries.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with your driver, who reportedly sustained serious injuries, and we pray for his speedy and complete recovery. We can only imagine the distress this has caused the team and management.
“We stand in solidarity with Crown FC during this difficult time. The safety and well-being of all involved remain our utmost concern. Please accept our heartfelt sympathy, prayers, and support.”
Sports247 gathered further that Crown FC were scheduled to feature in the high-profile pre-season competition along with nine other teams from the lower division Nigeria National League (NNL) and third-tier Nationwide League One (NLO).
